At our Bloomington, IL Kia service center, we love sharing tips and tricks that help our customers get the most out of their Kia vehicle! When it’s summertime, those sweltering temperatures can take a toll on your car (and on you — so hydrate!), but there are some preventative measures you can take to stay cool as well.
- Check your AC. When you turn your air conditioner on max cool with the fans all the way on, it should get cool. If all you’re getting is some moderately coolish-warm air, then your system might need to be charged, you might need a new air filter, or you may have another issue that our Kia service experts can diagnose.
- Park in the shade or in a garage whenever you can. The interior of your car will stay cooler and your paint job will be protected from those harsh UV rays — not to mention debris and the possible hazards that come with parking your car outside.
- Purchase a sunshade, window visor, or car cover. All of these aftermarket items that are designed to reflect the sun off your vehicle will help it stay cool. They are good for overnight and long term use, but if you’re just running into the store for a few moments, consider cracking your windows open so the heat doesn’t build as quickly.
- Lastly, don’t leave water bottles or other plastic and meltable objects in your car. Over time, plastic can release chemicals if it is exposed to certain temps, so it’s best to take those items inside. We want both you and your car to remain in good health!
