As your local Kia dealers, we are always thrilled about our newest offerings, especially a new SUV that drivers young and old will enjoy. According to a recent article by Car and Driver, the engineers at Kia are doubling down on compact SUVs with a model that will hopefully be available in the United States in the near future: the Kia Seltos.

The Kia Seltos made its global debut recently, and it looks like it will fit into the lineup perfectly between the subcompact Kia Soul and compact Kia Sportage. This model is set to go on sale later this year abroad, and all signs indicate that it will come to the US shortly thereafter (especially since Kia has already filed a trademark for the name in the U.S.).

The Kia Seltos is going to be roughly the same size as the Hyundai Kona, with chunky lines, tall proportions, and a more “upright” design look. There will likely be two engine choices – a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four with 147 horsepower and a turbocharged 1.6-liter inline-four with 175 horsepower with a six-speed automatic transmission and seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, respectively. Front-wheel drive is a given, and an all-wheel-drive option is highly possible.

While this model is certainly still in the early stages, we hope to gather more information about the Kia Seltos to share with our customers in the future. We would be happy to chat more or help you shop for our current new or pre-owned Kia cars for sale.
